SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Caribbean Kitchen Food’s is at the forefront of social responsibility by championing the mission to combat the health epidemic linked to high sodium intake. By innovating and promoting lower-sodium options without compromising on taste, Caribbean Kitchen not only sets a standard in the food industry but also empowers individuals to make healthier dietary choices. Through education and advocacy, our company strives to raise awareness and drive positive change in public health.
The American Heart Association stated that 75% of Americans want less sodium. 58% have tried to reduce the amount of sodium in their diet, and 57% want more choice or control over the sodium content in their food.
The FDA recommends that food manufacturers indicate the amount of sodium in foods and beverages. Those containing less than 140 mg of sodium are considered to be low in sodium.
In October 2021, the FDA released sodium reduction guidelines on how to lower sodium in the food supply. This was a clear indication that the regulator has acknowledged that excessive consumption of sodium poses a significant public health threat. Food manufacturers have a 2.5-year window to comply with the recommendations (Microsalt, 2022).
